This section is all about volunteering, how to contact us, how to find voluntary work that suits you, and how to make sure you get the best out of your voluntary work. There are also training courses available and information for organisations looking for volunteers.

Who to contact in the Volunteer Centre Gateshead

Volunteer Centre Gateshead is part of a national network of organisations that are working to encourage people from all sections of the community to get involved in volunteering. We are committed to working pro-actively to ensure that all those who wish to volunteer are actively encouraged and enabled to do so. Find out how to volunteer.

As a volunteer it is useful to know what to expect before you begin.  Some information is found in this leaflet.

Our other function is to support volunteer involving organisations from the voluntary, community or statutory sectors, who rely on volunteers to deliver services in the community. Groups can advertise their opportunities with us, access information and training on volunteer recruitment and management and can network with other volunteer co-ordinators. We are committed to providing equality of opportunity in access to our services, membership, and publications.

Volunteer involving organisations are encouraged to make an appointment to visit the Volunteer Centre for advice and information about all aspects of involving volunteers.  One-to-one sessions are informal and confidential and can include eg recruitment of volunteers, diversity in volunteering, good practice in volunteer management, how to get involved in networks, developing volunteering opportunities etc.

This service is free of charge.  If you would like more in-depth training for your organisation about any of the above, this can be arranged at a reasonable rate.
