This section will tell you how to apply for GVOC membership and shows the latest mailing or newsletter, it will also have the previous mailing for easy back reference.

Apply for free GVOC membership

There are two types of membership - full and affiliate, both of which are free.

Full membership gives you:
Bullet Access to GVOC’s printing facilities
Bullet Regular information mailings
Bullet Access to GVOC’s information and resource library
Bullet The right to vote at GVOC’s Annual General Meeting and to nominate members to the Management Committee

Bullet The right to propose motions at GVOC’s AGM
Bullet In certain circumstances, the use of GVOC’s charity number for fundraising

    etc. (Please ask for further details of this)

Guidelines for full membership
Applicants should be based in or working with residents of Gateshead. If it is a North East organisation, evidence of regular work in Gateshead should be supplied.

Applicants should be a registered charity, voluntary or community group or a not-for-profit organisation, and have clearly defined aim(s), purpose or mission statement.

Applicants should not be engaged in any activity that would conflict with GVOC’s constitution, i.e. party political, promoting any illegal activities.

Applicants should have either a set of rules or constitution and if the group has money, a bank account in its name, keep financial records and have a committee or persons responsible.

Applicants should complete a GVOC questionnaire and provide a contact name and address and details of the organisation’s activities and aims and objectives.

Please complete the application form and indicate whether or not you are applying for full or affiliate membership. Your application will be put to the next meeting of GVOC’s Management Committee and you will be contacted in due course.

Guidelines for affiliate membership
Applicants may be individuals, Quangos, enterprise organisations or statutory authorities with an interest in the voluntary sector of Gateshead.

Applicants may be starting up voluntary organisations but may not fulfil all of the guidelines for full membership, but may at any specific time, apply for full membership.

Please complete the application form and indicate whether or not you are applying for full or affiliate membership. Your application will be put to the next meeting of GVOC’s Management Committee and you will be contacted in due course.

Voluntary groups and non-members: £2.50 + p&p
Statutory Organisations: £3.50 + p&p

List of Members' names and addresses on labels: £20.00
