NECDAF

The North East Cultural Diversity Arts Forum (NECDAF) is an organisation owned by volunteer Trustees from local communities, organisations and agencies.  The organisation is run as a charity.  The organisation was set up in 2004 to provide practical services to the cultural, arts and community organisations serving minority ethnic communities in North East England.

They administrate a forum of Community Organisations, funders and public sector agencies created to develop the arts of different ethnic communities living in our region through collaboration and information sharing.  They offer administrative support by appointment to artists and organisations e.g. for funding applications, business and development planning, organisational planning and budgeting.  They initiate and manage research in support of development plans.  They also plan and raise funds for strategic development programmes.

NECDAF is a strategic organisation and does not normally deliver projects itself.  Forum member organisations and individuals are encouraged to bid to deliver projects as part of the agreed development strategy.  Priority will be given to proposals that require collaboration between organisations and ethnic communities for their success.  Additionally NECDAF approaches member organisations and invites them to deliver projects as its clients.

Phoenix Futures is a charitable organisation providing help, advice and support to individuals with drug and/or alcohol problems. We provide residential services for single adults and families and also provide community services throughout the country.

Our Gateshead office is the central support for staff working within prisons in the north east area. Within these environments Phoenix Futures staff provide counselling for prisoners with drug, alcohol, HIV or hepatitis problems and offer links within the community. Staff also provide specialist advice and training on drugs and the criminal justice system.
