Gateshead LINk – The Story So Far Gateshead LINk hosted its Launch Event Conference on 23rd October 2008 at Stonehills, Pelaw to inform local people about the development of Gateshead LINk so far, encourage more members and to begin the process of identifying the Health and Social Care issues that are important to local people.
The conference was excellently attended by 59 delegates, representing 21 wide-ranging local organisations with an interest in health and social care issues, as well as individual residents. Workshops on the topics of residential care homes, hospital services, GP services, social care, mental health, older people and carers took place identifying issues for Gateshead LINk to take forward. As a result of these workshops Gateshead LINk created four working groups around issues relating to Residential Care, Mental Health, Hospital Discharge Procedures and Carers. These four working groups are now up and running and Gateshead LINk is actively seeking representation from local people on these groups.
