Rural
Community Development
Good
news for the local Rural Voluntary Community Sector
Colin Roberts
has recently joined the GVOC team as Rural Community Development
Worker. This part time post is funded until 2008 by DEFRA under
their Rural Social and Community Programme for England. This pilot
project recognises that there needs to be investment in longer-term
capacity building to address the problems of diverse and dynamic
rural communities.
The project
aims to work closely with rural communities to ensure that
More rural residents feel they can influence decisions
affecting their local area

More rural residents feel that their local area is a place where
people can get on well together

More rural residents carry out voluntary work in an organisation

There can be growth of local rural Voluntary Community Sector capacity
and activity .
