Empower Gateshead

Empower Gateshead is the project that was set up to establish, support and administer Gateshead Community Network.

The Team work to support community and individuals' involvement in the Network, Gateshead Strategic Partnership and its Themed Partnerships which are Children and Young People, Community Safety, Connexions, Culture, Employment and Economy, Environment, Housing, Health, and Transport.

The team do this by providing up to date information, training for new and existing members, and by co-ordinating Network and Steering Group meetings.  They are continually striving to increase Network membership and the number of representatives (local people) to discuss local people's issues from around the borough at the Focus Groups which mirror the various partnerships.

Gateshead Community Network

The GCN is made up of individuals and groups throughout the borough.  Members are invited to participate in consultations, attend bi-monthly meetings and have access to training.  Gateshead Community Network provides the means by which the Voluntary and Community Sector can link in and represent local people's views and influence decisions of the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP).

The Network helps to develop and maintain communication with the LSP and disseminate information to the wider community as well as being a forum for debate for the VCS to voice its views to the LSP.

Steering Group

The Steering Group is made up of members from the Network who have become more involved.  The group meet monthly and are the decision makers of the Network.
